Who I Am
With over two decades of experience, Carey has regularly published short stories, plays, and poetry in various journals, magazines, and collections. He is a featured author for Down Home East Texas magazine and has worked as a music and film critic, sports reporter, and professional wrestling writer.
Carey's notable work, The Book of Lesser Traumas, released in July 2024, is described as a non-linear autobiography exploring themes of right and wrong, caring, and coping with tragedy. The book offers readers a compelling and heartfelt journey through life’s little experiences.
His play, “Is That You, Kilgore Trout?”, was awarded the Audience Choice Award at the 10th annual Pyro Playfest.
Carey is also a noted speaker, former radio host, and compelling storyteller. He is currently booking a Summer 2026 spoken word tour.
